LogiCO2 Carbon Dioxide Safety System That Meets ALL United States Safety Codes

LogiCO2 Carbon Dioxide Safety System That Meets ALL United States Safety Codes

Did you know that CO2 (carbon dioxide) is a colorless, odorless gas that normally exists at a concentration level of 0.04% in the air we breathe, however at levels above 4% concentration it poses an immediate danger to life and health? Exposure to levels above 4% reduces blood supply to the brain causing headaches, dizziness, nausea, unconsciousness, convulsions and death. At a 20% concentration death can occur in just a few seconds!

Walk-in coolers, storage areas, soda fountain dispensers… anywhere CO2 is stored or used, should have a CO2 safety monitor and alarm system that meets all four U.S. safety codes and standards:

  • Awareness alert at 5,000 ppm (0.5%) 8 hour Time Weighted Average (TWA),
National Fire Protection Association 55 and OSHA
  • Awareness alert at 5,000 ppm (0.5%), 2015 International Fire Code
  • Pre-alarm at 15,000 ppm (1.5%), National Board Inspection Code Part 1 Supplement 3
  • Full Alarm at 30,000 ppm (3.0%), National Board Inspection Code Part 1 Supplement 3 and Short Term Exposure Limit defined by ACGIH and NIOSH

There is only one CO2 safety system currently on the market that meets all four U.S. safety standards: LogiCO2’s MK system.

The MK9 sensor is a precision digital instrument that continuously monitors temperature and CO2 gas concentration using infrared analysis. It has red, yellow and green LED lights and an intermittent buzzer for Low Alarm and continuous sound for High Alarm. It performs self-calibration at regular intervals, which is safer and eliminates the need for service calls to adjust the calibration.

The MK10 is a sensor with an integrated sound and red light alarm that can be used as a stand-alone unit or can be linked to a Central Unit for the digital display of values. It also performs self-calibration at regular intervals.

CO2 is heavier than air and concentrates in low areas, therefore sensors are mounted 12" from the floor within 15’ of the CO2 supply tank and the equipment using the CO2. Sensors may not be visible from a distance so combination horn/strobes or waterproof beacons are mounted high above sensors to provide greater visibility and audibility. Horn/strobes are also recommended at doors where CO2 is stored or used.

The multi-lingual Central Unit controls the safety system and displays measurements from up to eight MK9 or MK10 sensors. It is mounted outside the area being monitored, such as a manager's office. An information and instructional text for all Alert/Alarm and Error conditions is shown on the display. If multiple sensors are connected, each value indicates which sensor the value is coming from. The Central Unit has an alarm memory that reactivates any alarm after a power interruption. The Central Unit can also be linked to an existing fire alarm system that is connected to the fire department.

LogiCO2 low voltage systems provide peace of mind by ensuring compliance with current legislation and protection from possible prosecution under health and safety legislation. MK9 and MK10 systems can be easily configured to meet your current needs and adapted for future expansion. Plus, they are the most cost effective CO2 safety systems currently available. Over 75,000 LogiCO2 units are installed globally, making sure everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
